Il 1° giugno 2023 è uscito al cinema Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, l’attesissimo sequel del film d’animazione Spider-Man: Un nuovo universo uscito nel 2018 e vincitore del Premio Oscar 2019 come Miglior film d’animazione (nonché di un Golden Globe e di un BAFTA nella stessa categoria).
In seguito all’uscita dell’edizione digital del film (in Italia arriverà in DVD e Blu-Ray il 14 settembre), molti fan hanno notato delle differenze rispetto alla versione cinematografica. L’edizione home video presenta piccoli tagli, inquadrature differenti, immagini più rifinite e linee di dialogo alternative. In alcuni casi, sono state rimosse anche delle presenti su schermo e delle frasi, come Miles Morales che esclama: “Mi dispiace, torno a casa”, rivolto a Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 durante il loro scontro.

Il motivo dietro tutti questi cambiamenti? Chris Miller, produttore e co-sceneggiatore, ha spiegato che un montaggio alternativo del film è stato realizzato per il mercato internazionale circa due mesi prima dell’uscita per essere tradotto nelle varie lingue; nonostante ciò, gli animatori hanno continuato a rifinirlo anche dopo l’uscita, realizzando questo montaggio aggiornato che è arrivato anche nelle sale statunitensi dopo il primo weekend.
